about the
project

' Invisible Flame ' is a documentary born from the encounter between personal experience and the urgent need to expand the dialogue on mental health in Brazil.

With real stories from people of different ages, backgrounds, and contexts, the project portrays the multiplicity of psychological suffering, its roots, and the possibilities for coping, listening, and care. More than narrating, we aim to illuminate. And we invite you to be part of this journey.

Different types and degrees of depression

the body feels

depression and physical health

Depression doesn't just reside in the mind. It also manifests itself in the body: pain, insomnia, fatigue, changes in appetite, among other symptoms. In this section, we discuss the relationship between mental and physical health, showing that the body speaks—and listening to it can be the first step toward comprehensive care.

faces of depression

Different types and degrees of depression

Depression doesn't have a single form. It can be mild, moderate, or severe. It can be silent or blatant. It can last for days or years.

Here, we uncover the many faces of this condition: major depression, dysthymia, atypical depression, bipolar disorder, and other variations that affect millions of people in different ways. Understanding the types and degrees is essential to understanding that each experience is unique and equally legitimate.

the documentary

mirror of society

society and depression

Depression is also a social symptom. It reflects inequalities, pressures, daily violence, and the fast pace of a world that doesn't always allow for a slowdown. In this section, we discuss how culture, the job market, schools, social media, and prejudice shape (and often exacerbate) psychological distress. Understanding the context is part of the solution.
